On 28 October 2026, ETAF co-signed a joint statement with 22 other professional, financial and business associations on the EU's Tax Simplification Package, calling on Member States to reach agreement and stressing that the outcome of the negotiations should be simpler than the rules in place today.
The signatories underline that simpler rules do not mean weaker tax enforcement, but rather a more coherent EU tax framework, free of unnecessary administrative burdens and duplication.
While revenue, safeguards and implementation will need to be addressed in the negotiations, the signatories make clear that none of these should result in recreating the complexity the package seeks to remove.
